Production of confectionery in Russia is characterized by a positive trend

Over the past 15 years, two-fold growth in output was recorded. In January–April 2016, increase in production of confectionery products reached 4.4% to the same period of the previous year.
According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, annual consumption of chocolate candies and chocolate per capita is 5.5 kilograms, and consumption of other confectionery products amounts to 4 kilograms.

In January–April 2016, the leading region in confectionery production was Moscow region, the figures of which remained practically at the level of the same period in 2015. Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, and Vladimir and Rostov regions were also among the major regions in output volumes during the first four months of 2016. It should be noted that in 2015 Moscow region, Moscow and Saint-Petersburg were the top three leaders in confectionery production as well.

Demand of domestic producers for imported equipment is still high despite the changes in the economic situation in the country, although it decreased two-fold to 2013 in value terms, amounting to $ 75 million (in 2014 decrease to 2013 equaled 6%). In January–April 2016 the decline amounted to 20% in monetary terms* and 25% in physical terms to January–April 2015.
